Introduction

Learners will experiment the application of communicative style within the classroom. It includes:

  • Most frequent communicative style: how teachers communicate with students, how students communicate with teachers. Communication from a dyadic perspective.
  • How to recognize a communicative style: based on the behavioral and descriptive items of each communication style, learners can focus on how to recognize their style and which would be the best according to students’ needs.
  • Nonverbal communication: the messages conveyed through behaviors and how to detect the correct meanings.
  • How to communicate with other school actors: miscommunication and strategies to avoid it; active listening with parents.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this unit, learners will be able to:

  • Recognize nonverbal communication
  • Select the correct communication channel with respect to the school's various stakeholders
  • Recognize the message of nonverbal behavior
